2) Its different - people hate change - but some of the hysterics here are laughable. Would you like some web addresses of places that got hit really hard? I've had emails from hacked forums I've been involved with elsewhere.

Love it or leave it, but the forums are nowhere near a priority for them - the priority is keeping the business running. Its a free service provided by the boyz and they have no compulsion to keep it.

As others have said, its a bog-standard initial install of VBulletin - there are plenty of addon's. IM sure G&M looked to security first. They'll see how this runs and add to it - if they have got burned with a hack, then respect their wishes to go with security first

Stroppy now, fed up yes. My mate spent most of last night p*ssed off after what happened to him, and to here people bitch about a change of forum is pretty minor. I then spent a rather paranoid afternoon checking my own site

Look, lets place ourselves in G&M shoes.

There's a possibility of a flaw, we don't even know if it got hacked or not - and the forum software involved is warning people to upgrade to the newest version of PHP.

So the boys have to upgrade a load of stuff, and considering this isn't a tuppenny-hapenny site, but one that involves a large turnover - it just isn't going to be acceptable to try and fix something - its much safer to just replace.

In their shoes I'd have done the same, and so would anyone concerned about what COULD HAVE happened.

Imagine how p*ssed off you all would be if financial data was compromised/ accounts emptied..........

With a site like this, "maybe" just isn't good enough.
