To Have or Not To Have a Bid Column
We successfully polled for an MaO option (Make an Offer) which was discussed in length, and it was finally added to our auction listings. Up till now, it is showing some success for those sellers who have opted to use this option, only a month into it.
Now It Is Time For A Bid Column (or not)
Having a bid column or not has been discussed to death, here on the forums. There was a time when we did have a bid column for a certain amount of time and then eBid decided it was not a viable option to have on this site. Since the deletion of the bid column, eBid has grown quite a lot with over 6 million listings up to date. Perhaps it is time for eBid to include the bid column again and see how it goes.
Re: To Have or Not To Have a Bid Column
I agree...I think it's time to have a bid column :)
Re: To Have or Not To Have a Bid Column
Same old same-o.
I believe admin is well aware that some would like to see a bid column. They clearly do not agree. I agree with their right to decide. I am sure when they feel it is right for the site it will reappear.
Re: To Have or Not To Have a Bid Column
Here is my opinion on the topic as I previously posted on another thread.
"Having some small acquaintance with the selling at auction, I venture to say that having the bidding easily visible to potential bidders would be an extremely desirable asset for those selling at auction here on eBid. Bidding begets bidding. Having the bidding activity visible for all to see should easily generate interest in the particular auction listing, the object being sold and the site in general.
Take my word for it, there is nothing more frustrating to an auctioneer than to have a room full of people all sitting on their hands. But I've seen a really tough room spring to life with just a couple of bidders getting enthusiastic over an item and the bidding take off. When it comes to bidding enthusiasm, like laughter, is contagious.
Of course, there is no way to generate enthusiasm among a bunch of empty seats at a live auction so there certainly isn't at one where the seats are in a virtual auction house. But if we can get enough enthusiasm going among the bidders we have, it should help in drawing more interested people into our virtual auction barn to see what the commotion is all about.
Frankly, not making the bidding easily visible can easily lead to potential bidders getting the impression that there is nothing worth bidding on or worse, that there is something not quite on the up and up and the bidding is being kept on the QT to hide the fact."
For what it is worth.

That is so Negative for and about this site.. it is so bad I can not believe that folk who really have no clue about auctions.. say such mindless things..'
There are 3 or 4 Negative for sellers here posters... go away.
Re: To Have or Not To Have a Bid Column
Yes I am sick and tired of that users lack of knowledge of auctions... Fixed prices are another world. Stop speaking for ebid.net unless you are getting paid as helper. You continually knock the idea of a Bid Column for the last 15 Months here.

I deleted my response to that to save admin the trouble.

Re: To Have or Not To Have a Bid Column
Yes I am totally fed up here with mindless postings here by negative misinformed sellers regarding a Bid Column.
