Air passengers' bank details to be handed to police under EU anti-terror plan
Air passengers' bank details to be handed to police under EU anti-terror plan
Every airline passenger flying in and out of Europe will have personal data including their bank card details stored on a police database, under new anti-terror plans.
The move by the European Commission would mean all information collected during check-in would be made available to the security services.
Civil liberties campaigners said the move would invade the personal privacy of thousands of air travellers, and called for it to be blocked.
But supporters of the plan, including most European interior ministers, say it will allow potential jihadists to be monitored as they travel across Europe.

Good
We should (our security services) know who is coming into and leaving this country.

Governments love terrorism; it gives them the excuse to curb our rights and control our lives.

The EU remit seems to have changed to one of control of people, trying to make everyone see life the way they think it should be seen, and the elimination of cross border trade via taxation.

Nothing has changed. The EU was always for the benefit of politicians and bureaucrats and not the people. They have just gained so much control that they don't feel the need to hide their true intent anymore or their contempt for the fools that allowed them to succeed.

The police have been able to access such details for years if there was suspicion of criminal activity. There is nothing new about it and they had that right here long before there was an EEC.
The idea that they will be doing so willy nilly is ludicrous, considering their present levels of manpower.
For those who imagine that their local county constabulary would be the ones checking this, do think again...
