Each country has different rules. As you're in the UK, you're have protection when buying gold via The UK Hallmarks Act 1973.
Here's some (very basic) info regarding gold buying in the UK, as far...
Nearly all of my transactions are via Paypal. I get the odd Google Checkout/ cheque/ postal order/ cash.
My least favourite is Google Checkout; I don't find it user friendly if you don't know...

One of the first things I do as a buyer (on many sites) is check out a sellers feedback.
Prehaps on the feedback page at the top in big bold letters:
This seller last logged on today 15.5.09....
I was in the pub trade for nearly 10 years. Luckily there was never much trouble, though on the odd occasions there was it was always a brick, glass bottle, stool, screwdriver or whatever that was...

Thanks Tiastreasures :)
Yeah, admin seem on the ball on this site so I'm in no doubt it'll get sorted out:cool:
I find buyers are less likely to leave feedback on here too.
I'm not bothered, though I suppose it would be nice to see my feedback rating go up a bit more, to give future customers more...
Thanks for the advice, if it happens again when I'm listing stuff in the next few days I'll try this :).
Hopefully admin can have a look if they get chance, and see if there's a bug in the...
All I use is the ebid WYSIWYG editor. No outside programs (eg word/ office/ TL etc). Just ebids own listing page, nothing else.
I've noticed over the past few weeks it is becoming more and more...
Just voted, and was selective too ;):D
Though I think all the options/ ideas on the poll were good ones so it was hard to choose.
There is a specialist collecters market for certain types of Christmas jewellery, some of it can fetch high prices if it's the right maker
Is it cheap plastic stuff, or is it metal with...

Hi Tamara, and good luck in your ventures :)

Hi Pony9a :)
The debate in the other thread is trying to solve dilemmas like this; (eg trying to get a seperate catagory for gold filled, rolled gold and plate etc). I wouldn't say it's nasty...
I have to admit that I've never done this (on any auction site I've used) :o. Prehaps I should? How would I go about doing it on here?
What would happen to the seller? We all have to make a...
Hiya Tia, your input and perspective is as valuable as anyone elses; ie if some one doesn't buy 'fine' jewellery that often it's vital that's it made as easy as possible to access what exactly you...
Hi 1840clb
This was not my intention. I'm in no position to say 'who's gold is best' etc, nor is it an argument I care about.
I was just trying to point out the way in which things are worded...
So how do you know that what you (ie any USA person) have is gold? Do you have consumer protection from fake precious metals (which is basically what UK/ European hallmarking is)?
9/10/18K...
LOL I learnt the hard way about UK hallmarking laws when I first started out in jewellery; I was sold what I was told was an genuine 18k gold ring, but it turned out to be fake.
At that time I...
hiya, and welcome to the friendliest auction site around!

I agree :)
Can I just clarify and prehaps make clearer one or two things I've seen written here? This applies to UK sellers only btw! There are strict UK laws regarding the sale of precious...
As long as it's proper 14ct Gold it's classed as Fine Jewellery.
I actually think the catagories are OK, but I would warn everyone using any auction site to be careful when buying fine jewellery...
In UK alot do this to game birds they've shot, they reckon it makes the game birds/ meat more tender and flavoursome.
In my opinion it just tastes like disgusting rancid meat....... and it's...
I started a few years back by messing around making bits jewellery. Went on to sell it on *bay, but realised that vintage jewellery/ beads I kept coming across were far nicer than my stuff and it...
Can we have a catagory in the non-fiction book section on farming and agriculture?
And possibly a Bushcraft/ self sufficiency section too, for stuff like Ray Mears, Bear Ghryls etc, small...
There was a satirical film called "Best in Show" by the same people who did Spinal Tap, all about Crufts types dog awards. It a good chuckle if you get shance to see it :)
I owe nowt. Was brought up the old fashioned way! If I can't afford it I don't buy it. If I've wanted something really bad I save up for it. If I can't afford a holiday that year I don't go. Never...
