Default Is shipping out of USA much of a hassle?

I'm new (and impressed so far) to ebid and was wondering if it is much of a hassle to ship out of USA. Mostly I have books but some other misc also. I have been listing but not getting much traffic and thought maybe willingness to ship would make a difference.

Hi, I cant really answer your query very well. The only thing I can tell you is that the USA/Canda/Australia and European sites are fairly new. Ebid is mainly UK based and has been running approximately 10 years.

As far as selling abroad is concerned the main considerations are:

    1) Cheap and reliable money conversion methods.

    2) Pricing for the Postage & Packaging.

    3) Customs forms.

As I have not sold outside of the Uk yet I can't really advise on these.

But we do have some Americans who have been with for some time so if this thread stays bumped hopefully they will see it.

    Default shipping out of USA

Thanks for your help. I have filled out the forms and shipped books to Canada before and it wasn't any big deal. It might be if I were selling thousands of items like I see some are.

Hello I have shipped many items overseas. The biggest problem is the high shipping charges. All the other stuff in is very easy.

    OP--

I recommend checking out the USPS (Click 'n Ship) website. EVERYTHING you need to know about international shipping (including country restrictions, and ordering customs forms, mailers, etc.) is easily accessible, AND you can calculate, pay for and print your postage (domestic and international) right online...and THEN schedule a FREE pickup of your packages by your postal carrier right from your home!

I've been using Click 'n Ship for the past 3 years...and I think that was the LAST time I went to the post office!!!

You also might want to look in to FLAT RATE marked Priority Mail Boxes...up to 70 pounds domestically for $8.95 and up to 20 pounds internationally for $37.00 (Canada is cheaper, but I forget what the flat rate is)! If you're shipping heavy books, and they fit into these specially marked boxes, it MIGHT help--especially with multiple quantity items being shipped to the same address?!

True story from that "other" auction site...

ME: Will you ship to Canada?
    HIM: No.
    ME: May I ask why?
HIM: Too many forms. Not worth my time.
ME: You mean the little green sticker?
    HIM: Yes.

I laughed for quite some time at how lazy some sellers are

    Cheers!

Lol. I have to put a little blue airmail sticker and a little white customs sticker on parcels I send to USA and canada. But you're all worth it
