I agree, should be the same. Represents good value if long term ebid expands. However it would make sellers more determind to stay around if they parted with £25.00 as oppossed to not signing up as it is cheaper in the states.

I had no problem taking advantage of the Lifetime Seller + membership...I was paying OVER $49 a WEEK on FeeBay! Not much of an investment, and hopefully lots of profit soon!

If you sign up in the US/Canada/Australia, etc, you get this:

    February Offer : Seller+ Lifetime 50% off. $99.99 down to $49.99.

Look the same huh, great deal across the board. Well, it's not.

£49.99 in US money right now converts to $98 dollars!
$49.99 converts to £25 UK Pounds!

Take the Irish Euro Ebid site:

    February Offer : Seller+ Lifetime 50% off. €99.99 down to €49.99

49.99 Euros converts to £37 GBP so if you're in Ireland you're paying 12-13 pounds less equivalent than someone in the UK, again, like the dollar folks, for exactly the same thing.

Now, I would have signed up like a rat out of a trap for £25.00-£37.00 but these 49.99 figures while looking alike across the board most certainly aren't.

Why is the UK paying more than everyone else? Or am I naively assuming these platforms are all linked to the same company when they're not? Either way, it's a real disparity.

There are already threads on this but i'll summarise quickly.

Therev are 14 National ebid sites. The UK site is much more established than the other sites, ebid as a business are offering all sites a fantastic deal, and on newer sites where they are trying to gain a more established market - they offer an even greater incentive.

This is normal business practice for all companies, feebay does exactly the same except they don't have the excuse of trying to get established in the US- they just do it for greed.

£49.99 for LIFETIME seller+ membership is an excellent offer for the UK site- which has almost half a million auctions listed on it

For the benefit of those who are still wondering about ebid's long term viability, my experience is that over the 5 years I have been here sales, traffic and listings have all gently improved. In February this year I have had a very major jump in sales - at least 5 times what I've done before (that is over both my ids.. this one has not had a huge improvement). Each time the other place(euphemism to reduce the likelihood of the advert spiders putting an ad for there onto this page) upsets people, we get a rush of joiners. This has been the largest rush ever. Listings on the uk site have finally broken through the half million properly, rather than hovering around that number. The more listings there are the more likely it is that the casual browser will find something they want.

I think most of us have figured that out already and I, for one, am not complaining (I paid US$79.99 for lifetime membership 1st February - I think that's about 38 UK Pounds).

To me that is a FANTASTIC DEAL whatever country your in. Considering that I sell regularly and if I don't, well, at least my membership will always be available without worrying about costs in the future and the listings I already have I don't worry about costs either, as they remain listed until sold.

I paid helluva lot more PER MONTH on fees 'over there' for a store, listings, auctions, gallery pic, FVF (which is higher for store items). I barely made any profit whatsoever for almost 3 years.

I am not complaining one single bit, the owners of this website have obviously put a lot of thought into their design, features, options etc and only ask a measly lifetime membership payment for sellers which I'm sure helps pay for ebid costs. I have my own website, so I know what it costs to run it. I'm sure it's much much more here.

OK jumping off my soap box now

Forgot to mention - I've already found 2 items on this site that I specifically needed and I purchased - couldn't find it 'over there'
