Default eBay Australia Sellers in Uproar!

Well, just as I predicted, Australia's sellers on eBay are NOT happy campers with the new PayPal ONLY policy they just put in place...

eBay Australia Sellers React to PayPal-Only Policy

eBay sellers in Australia continue to express anger over the new ban on any payment method other than eBay's own PayPal payment service, covered in AuctionBytes last week (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y08/m04/i10/s01). An online petition calling on eBay Australia to rethink its decision to remove direct deposit, money orders and checks as payment options has garnered over 2930 signatures as of Sunday evening (http://www.petitiononline.com/ebayau/petition.html), and discussion boards are lighting up with complaints over eBay limiting sellers - and buyers - payment options (http://forums.ebay.com.au/thread.jsp...adID=500078838).

One member posed the question, "Any One EVER Had a problem with Direct Deposit????" Most replies were negative other than the problem of buyers occasionally entering incorrect account numbers.

However, it was pointed out that recently a seller who had allegedly ripped off eBay Australia buyers for over one million dollars used direct deposit to accept payments from his victims (http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/...top-story.html). eBay promised last month to pay back the victims for their losses (http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/...top-story.html).

Phil Leahy, president of a seller organization based in Australia, sent AuctionBytes a statement stating that the PayPal-only requirement will result in higher fees for sellers, and it called on eBay to reduce fees before the new policy takes effect.

The beneficiary of eBay Australia's new policy may be eBay rival OZtion, which is getting a lot of mention in the discussion boards. http://www.oztion.com.au/company/aboutoztion.aspx

Wondering if this isn't an opportune moment to advertise eBid on Australia's boards......anyone from Australia want to give it a go?

well I could see it coming, makes you wonder how long it would be before the new rule hit's the UK. Must admit I am surprised at feebay, they seem to be making very drastic changes in a short period of time. TBH I quite like this as I would certainly love to see ebid get an influx of buyers and sellers and make online auctions an enjoyable and less expensive way to sell again.

Morning. It won't be long before it hits the UK. To be honest I have more listed here now than on Feebay. and from the ist of may when the changes hit the UK i will close my feebay store for good, eBid is seeing an upsurge in both sellers and buyers and I am starting to see my items sell with more profit so very happy here and enjoying selling again

Most buyers prefer paying by Paypal if you dont offer it you are going to lose sales.
Although i think its very expensive and a scammers charter with the cash backs where the seller is ignored , its a something i have to put up with or make no sales.

Surely though it is only a matter of time, if enough sellers sign up for Google Checkout, then we all make a switch to not accepting Paypoo at the same time, all the buyers would suddenly see that Google Checkout is the way to go. Just leave PayPoo to Greedbay sales only.

I need to sort google checkout out.
Trouble is OH got a buyer account with them using the same email address I use for online selling; I don't really want to mix the 2. Whenever I think I got a bit of money in there, he'll have spent it again!!!

Im signed up and try to push it but very few opt for it, i would prefer PPPAY than paypal.
Even left Paypal off a few listings but resulted in no sales.
