Thread: Tutankhamun exhibition

  1. #1

    Question Tutankhamun exhibition

Has anyone been to the Tutankhamun exhibition at the Millenium Dome?

I'm taking my 9yr old tomorrow, he's into all things Egyptian so should love it.

I was just wondering if anyone else has been and what it was like?

I went in March - it was awesome.... DO get the headphones they offer at something like £2 they are well worth it. You get the lovely Omar Sharif telling you all about each exhibit.

Some of the pieces only look like they are about 20 years old, and not 2000 years old, it is very good. The ONLY thing that I was a little bit disappointed in, was the fact that they didn't have the actual coffin - they have a replica which stands about 6 inches tall and they also have a projection onto the floor so you can see how big it should be and how many layers there are.

Also went to see the Terracotta Army Exhibition, I'm not sure if that is still on - if it is, go and see that. It is breathtaking.

Will do Bourne, I'm hoping to be able to take a few photos but some of these places don't allow it and then charge a fortune for you to buy theirs

Oooh lucky you, did you see the Death mask?

That's not at the Dome because apparently the Germans dented it so the Egyptians have said they won't allow it to leave the country anymore
