Photographs as postcards?

Good thinking! Though I'd been wondering about parrots, because they could ask the way if they got lost. Perhaps I could just print black and white on them, and they'd come out as colour?

You actually buy postcard photo stock here in the USA. Costs quite a bit more than regular photo paper. I think photo paper would work great

Or you could just print them as photographs and stick them in an enveloppe.
