Default feeBay making things worse - new changes

Just got an email from feeBay with changes they are going to make.
One is that they are going to introduce a new policy so that you have to offer free postage and packaging in certain categories

    Welcome to EBID.
We don't have that system here.
    Good wishes to you.

oh and another complaint I have about the other side is that I have just sold a CD today but the winning bidder is from Italy.
Nowhere in my listing did I say I would post to Italy and I only offered a postage price for the UK.
Surely feebay should have stopped the guy from bidding?

They have been doing that for months!

Good reason to stop selling on there!

(Don't know why i'm doing this) - but - did you set your seller preferences properly?
They will only block certain countries if you have told them.

If you need feebay advice, go to feebay Q & A !

    Simples!

I'm selling on both but if I get a sale over there, I will send a flyer in with the package telling them about eBid

Ah, Ive just looked at the preferences and it appears that I aws not blocking buyers from other countries.
But still, surely it's common sense for them to block bidders like that.

I got the email from them today - must remember to close my account at some point. Unfortunately I've just bought something over there for OH, that we couldn't find anywhere else in the UK and postage from US would have made it a silly price. I suppose it now means that I'm gonna have to wait another 3 months (or whatever timespan they've set to not have activity on your account).

Steve, what is wrong with selling abroad? You offer your goods to other countries and you have an increased chance of a sale, because more people can buy. Just charge the appropriate postage. A Royal Mail rates leaflet and a set of digital scales makes it quite quick to decide what to charge.

I must say, I don't like "free postage". It's included in the total price, which means that if I buy multiple items or someone buys multiple items from me, a postage discount can not be offered.

All of my listings have postage and packaging included...unless we are given packaging and the post office stops charging for postage there is no such thing as free postage and packaging.

We don't get charged on the starting bid on our auctions here...we only get charged when we sell.

    I love it here

Why discuss eB*y news/changes on here?!

How many threads on eB*y discuss eBid's latest news/changes? (clue - usually less than 1)

I no longer sell on eBid (other than YDC) because it didn't work out for me but I wouldn't post a load of negative stuff about them on another site...still sounds a lot like "jealous little brother" syndrome to me.

As for selling outside the UK - I'm glad I do so

I've sold about 80 items in the last month with approx. 50% to EU, 30% to UK and 20% to ROW.

Rock, Pop, Indie, Dance and more CDs

Same here. I don't sell on E**y anymore - just here and on a "European" auction site. Over half of my sales go outside the UK.
