Just looking at Facebook

I have just been looking at facebook and the world, that seems rather odd to me, with people sucking on each others lollies, and giving each other hearts and found a lot of my family are already using it and have been for some time.

Most of them have anything from ten to three hundred friends, but then there is one, a cousin that has almost three thousand. I have asked him how or why, as I still have no understanding of why they do it, so I will see what they say.

But it made me realise a lot of people are asking us to join groups on things like facebook, but no one seems to be suggesting how to make best use of them and what people actually use them for.

Now I will stick with Facebook but this could be any of them, does anyone know what these things are for, I am a little puzzled why people use them, or what is the popularity.

Also what you use them for or what have you seen others use them for?

This is not picking on them but is more for an old fart like myself and maybe some others that are looking at them and like me or thinking what? but wanting to understand them a little more, and understanding how we can use them for promotion.

My family seem to be using them for some form of games, Mafia Wars for my Cousin with the three thousand friends seems to be popular.
And then I have a sister that is using it with her grandchildren to collect animals for a zoo, and some other games.

But do we have any people out there in ebid land that have used these P2P things for sometime and have some understanding of how best to use them?

There've been quite a few chats about facebook on here in the last few weeks. Have a paddle through the forums and you'll maybe pick up a few ideas.

The biggest game on Facebook is Farmville...so to make sure my links to eBid (YDC auctions mainly) go to as many people as possible, I play Farmville and have over 700 friends.

This means that every time I promote the YDC auctions or my stores etc, the promotion gets sent to over 700 people each time.

Because I play the largest game there..people add me every day so my promotions go out to more people every day too

I think there is something sinister about facebook . . .
I mean fancy sharing personal info, hopes an fears etc etc with the whole world.
The games? Probably some sort o pschological profiling going on there.

Of course...there are people with guns, pointing at folks' heads...making them disclose their personal information.

The accounts have settings that allow restrictions on what is published...I only publish stuff I want the whole world and his wife to read.

There are lots of 'Innocent' and/or 'Gullible' people out there that are not so smart or suspicious.

I know....I have seen lots of dodgy groups on there.

So far as the perverts go.....parents should be monitoring their kids' on-line life.

Just because there are dodgy peeps doesn't mean it is bad for all of us...otherwise we would all stop buying on-line from total strangers in case the sellers were all dodgy.

Aw come on! I never said that!
Facebook is not a selling site!
But as a social networking site it can be a very dodgy place. Once you post on there anyone in the world can access that info if they are determined enough.
SOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo spooky and dangerous.
