Yorkie you need to set up a perch overhanging the water then just sit patiently and wait for the Kingfisher to come and settle, or find one of his regular perches.

This is the Heron making his escape.

now have a mesh around my pond, herons have to land away from the pond then walk up to it.

    Excellent Ken!

No herons here on Lake Michigan, just seagulls. Raccoons will clean out a fish pond in short order, and not quite as pretty as the heron.

There were herons in Washington state, Pacific NW USA, on Puget Sound. I worked at a retirement home, and one of the residents used to have fish in his pond.......before they were all eaten. I guess if you have some really deep spots in the pond where the fish can hide, it helps preserve them.....but the herons...and your photos...are gorgeous!!
    Ta-Ta for now!
