When I first came to the UK and we bought our current house (25+ years ago), I needed curtains. Decided to make my own. For the first set I took all the measurements in cms - went to a store and they said they did all their measurements in inches/feet; hurried conversion! Next time I measured up in imperial and went to a different place - I suppose you can guess, they were metric. Another hurried recalculation needed!

As far as to what measurements where - you won't find feet and inches in Continental Europe; they're for the Brits and Americans.
The Brits are trying to "europanize", but not always succeeding. It sometimes makes me laugh when I go to the butchers and ask in one session for a 1 kg joint of beef followed by half a pound of mince.

Easy, I use both.... If I want something to sound big I use Centimeters and if I want it to sound small I uses inches

Rods and pecks are still used in these parts, Ken

I mainly use millimeters both here and on our site, with the inch making a cameo appearance in a few titles to broaden our appeal on Google

inches is the proper measurement here , dont care what the government say..strange how they want us to use the metric system , but if you go to buy a boat , ( a new one please ) they are in feet and bowls are in feet...so the rest should be in feet ( and Inches ).....have a vote .... we will sort it all out...we are right , well I am.???...........papa.
