my mother had liver problems and its so hard to hear bad news. you must be positive!. my thoughts are with you.

Wow, this is heavy, I'm really, really sorry. I agree with getting 2nd and even 3rd opinions, as everyone knows docs aren't infallible, no matter what some may think to the contrary.

Just found this online:

Ursodiol (Actigall). Ursodiol is the only drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis. Ursodiol assists the liver in moving bile through the ducts to the gallbladder and small intestine. Studies have shown that ursodiol prescribed early in the disease improves liver function.

Perhaps it's something to look into. And, whatever you do, don't give up hope. My Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and beat it through drugs and surgery, 12+ years ago and still counting.

Thanks every one laid awake for hours last night and it still hasn't sunk in properly, I keep thinking right what do I do now to get better, as though I can get rid of it, and I can't, and it won't sink in.
I will look around the net today as a lot of you have suggested to see if I can find anything to help me.
