Smile Posting to a different paypal address?

Hi, I have sold to a buyer, who after paying via paypal, sent me an email asking me to post to
a different address as she no longer lives at the address registered on her paypal account.
Normaly I never post to a different address, but just wanted to know how other Ebid sellers felt about it.

    Thanks.:-)

Is the eBid address same as Paypal or has that not been updated either?

Personally, if I had it in writing to post elsewhere I don't see a problem - or am I missing something here?

This was discussed on a different thread a couple of days ago.

The question then went something like "what do I do if I notice that the PayPal address is different to the ebid address

This is a copy of one of the answers which I have kept on file for my own future reference.

It depends on the value of the item, in my view. I've never hesitated to send to whatever address customers want, including sending gift items to other people. But if I had a high value item I needed to send securely, I might prefer to have paypal back-up on delivery, which means getting the customer to add the address to their account and select it for delivery.

I had this issue a day ago. Out of all my Ebid feedback buying and selling, I had my first seller who was nervous about sending to my non-UK paypal verified address here in the UK where i now live. I tried to set up a new paypal account here in the UK (My $ stuff is all in the US), and it was a pain. STill didn't get it verified, as I didn't want to link hubby's checking account. So.....doesn't mean I'm not a nice person or don't live where I ask them to send it. Doesn't mean I'm scamming. I can imagine it might cause some people some problems. I've also asked Ebidders in the US to mail things to my daughter's house in the US. No problems......guess you need to do what you are comfortable with at the end of the day.

    Default re update on thread.

    Thank you for your replies.
What I did was send the buyer an Ebid message telling her that I am supposed to post to the address that appears on the invoice.
If she wished me to post it to her new address, I would refund her and then she could either update her info or add another postal address,
and re buy the item choosing the alternative address.
I received a reply via ebid, that it was ok and can I just post it to the original paypal address.
    I find that very odd.
    regards Jendora

I don't. She probably still is in the process of moving and has access to both places. Or is having her mail forwarded.

or maybe left her parents home to live by herself. Loads of reasons for still being in contact with an old address

Thank you for the replies and I had not thought of those things.
Guess its me just being over cautious after being stung several times on the other E site.
    Kind regards Jendora

You're not being overly-cautious at all. When a PayPal account is stolen, the person making unauthorized use of the account will ask for shipping to another address. That's because changing the address within PayPal takes several days or longer for confirmation. If you send goods to an address not registered with PayPal, you will not be covered by PP seller protection. If PP suspects any fraudulent activity with an account, they will claw back the money sent from that account, no questions asked. You did the right thing by posting your question here and for trying to get confirmation from the buyer outside of PP.
