More power to you!!!! Sending best thoughts your way. It's not easy....I never smoked, but lived with someone who quit. It was tense, but he was so happy when he realized he had succeeded......

good for you both Sarah , I did smoke , over 60 a day...I did get a warng , fright , what ever you want to call it...and I stopped ...about 20 year now....I found it easy..honest Sarah , no craving , nowt....I do know others who seemed to have a lot of bother , but managed...I would not suggest any aids to stop this as the aids have nicotine in them......so just get n with everthing else and do not look back.........when you have stopped , you can buy me a drink in the cellar.....best of luck....PAPA.

Thumbs up Re: Day 1 in the cigarette free house

    Good work Sarah

Take the challenge one day at a time, minute by minute, hour by hour keep a reminder in front of you on the reasons why you want to quit put a picture that you can find of a filled ashtray on your desktop rather sickening and also find a friend that you can talk to when the urges are unbearable, talk a walk get away from the computer once in a while and know we are all behind you on quitting

Oh Sarah, If you have decided to quit smoking on your own, you can do it. Nobody could tell me to quit, i had to decide for myself. I smoked Pall Mall non-filtered for over 45 years, went to filters the last 10 years i smoked. I have not smoked, it will be 2 years in August, i quit cold turkey, and i must stay quit. Quitting put me in the hospitol 4 days with withdrawals. Be proud of yourself for every day you have quit smoking, because i am proud of you for being smart enough to quit. And for those of us that have quit, we know what you are going thru, each day is a milestone. You will think you want one, but you really don't, because it is for your own good health and satisfaction, and you don't want to let people know you started again.

Good for you I wish you all the luck possible, you know you can do it however take whatever help is available and if it suits you give it a go. I quit in 2000 and to help me a young teenager bought me a joke artificial cigarette as I needed a placebo and at the same time my sons threw out all my ashtrays and sprayed the whole house with air freshener, my contribution was to stop all my routine things that included having a cigarette like the first coffee of the day I replaced with water and as soon as I finished a meal I would immediately wash the dishes. You must choose whatever works for you. Please let us know how you get on and I will keep my fingers crossed for both of you
