Default Price Hike Forces me to close listings!

Closed all my listings on all sites including the river!

Even books will cost over £5 to ship.
(edit) Ok, Not all books )

    Flaming scandalous I call it.

I will have to experiment with different shippers to see what the future holds.
But I expect the other couriers to hike their prices soon as well.

The next few months will be interesting to say the least.

Yikes Pink, that sucks! Hope you find an alternative shipping method that saves money.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Pink, I know how you must be feeling about your books. I used to sell loads on the other site but had to change direction due to the drop (slump) in demand. ~We took another load to the local Hospice Shop this morning - at least they are Gift Aided and will fetch some coffers to patient care.

Fortunately, my knitting patterns remain unchanged at the moment. But I guess it will only be a matter of time before RM raise the price of a LL once again.

Hope you find a way to start selling again.

So sorry to see that Pink_Panther. I'm enjoying the one I bought recently from you and have you marked as a "favourite seller" - you're a marked man!

    Sorry to see that pInk

But as I said a while ago here on TM in NZ books has the lowest sell through rate of any category 2% overall (rare books 9%)
TM's average sell through rate is 15%.

ebooks are making huge inroads into the book market.
And how many times have you read "If I can't sell them them I'll just give them away to the local fair"
Couple that to the fact that postage keeps going up, and books really are a waste of time listing.

Yet ,one quarter of ebi'd listings are books! so they are not contributing much to ebid's income.

I've been sorting through and some of my heavier books are coming off in the next few days, but a lot of them are less than 2.5cm thick so can still go at the more reasonable LL rate - I've sold three today, which includes one in the ydc charity auction.

I only used books as an example.

The thing is, the shipping on any parcel over 8cm thick has rocketed.

I have closed 'ALL' of my listings until further notice.

The irony is that some books may be the only things worth listing.

My china and Pyrex listings will all be much more expensive to ship with RM.

Why not pick the best of the litter then use a courier ultil the couriers hike their prices up?
Shame really that you are giving up, I know my O/H still buys books off the net at the moment

Yes, evreyone in the media is talkign about online sales killing retail.

But to me that is just hype - the malls are still full at the weekends.

Add to that the continual rise in postage, at a time when goods are becoming cheaper and buying online does not make as much sense as it used to.

The post offices need to understand this.
Of course extra security costs imposed at airports does not help either.
