There is uproar on ebay, but how many people will actually leave is a different thing.
I for one will be adding more items shortly to ebid with amended prices, after all it is cheaper on here to list.
I will still use ebay but only to drive traffic here.

True, plenty of people whinging in ebay/paypal forums but they never seem to leave or join ebid (in actual fact they are the people causing ebay to increase their fees and introduce unfair selling polices as ebay know that sellers are reluctant to move) with annoys me
Similar thing with the no surchage policy 3 years ago , listing fee increase and the DSR ratings. Although others have warned that if ever ebid did get a massive increase in sellers taking thier business here, ebay would just buy the whole site. I am surprised they have not done so already.
I don't think feebay would gain very much by buying eBid. The site would probably be empty by the time the transaction went through. We've seen recently, with Taz#ar, how fast a site can empty when sellers really don't aprove of management decisions. eBid is the best alternative auction site but it isn't the only one.
Quite so, if eBay bought any alternative site the sellers would leave and go elsewhere, the owners might make some cash, but the migration of sellers to another alternative site would make that one even stronger. Ebay would get nothing for their cash

But the whole idea would be for them to buy out the competition so they don't operate at all

I wish google would buy ebid. Then eBay would have some serious competition.
What's this about ebay sellers not being able to leave negs for bad buyers? Have I read that right? I suppose I wouldn't know -- I don't read the ebay forums and ebay would hardly splash it in my face when listing.
This sounds like yet another thing BBC Watchdog should be having a look at. They did quite a good exposure a while ago of how some of the big sellers get their negs removed by retaliating and then getting ebay to cancel the matched ones.
One of the things eBid has really got right, I feel, is the feedback system. Not restricted to 80 chars and the ability to modify feedback in the light of new info. Much much better than ebay.
