    That is true....but how many people sign up to protect our borders know that they will be sent to fight in illegal wars?

    None of our service personnel should be fighting in Afghanistan ...the ones still out there should be brought home alive

    That's very true. When I signed up at the tender age of 15 years old I fully accepted that one day I may be required to take part in a conflict in defence of my country. As the years went by I became increasingly concerned that the conflicts being engaged in were not in protection of my own country but either politically motivated or even conflicts that were nothing to do with us whatsoever. It was one of the deciding factors in me leaving after my 24 years were up.

    Just a note to all taking part in this thread.
    Thank you for yor input some interesting points.

    However, please lets not get drawn away from the original post.
    I just wanted to pay respect to theses young soldiers & their families & say how seeing it on the news upset me.

    Threads get side tracked sometimes.

    It would be nice to think, that some of those families,had some comfort from reading threads like this.

    And to know that their lose is felt by others.
