So - Cancel means not only cancel the SALE, but CANCEL THE LISTING.
Does it give you a heads-up warning that that is going to happen???...Like a little box pop up and say....."If you CANCEL this SALE, your auction will be deleted. Are you sure you want to do this?"

It doesn't delete the listing - it just deletes the description

I can report that eBid support have got back to me to ask for further details. I did a test purchase (having two accounts helps) and was able to answer their question.
