There are in many updates, Adobe for 1, hidden or vague programs that you unknowingly accept, when updating.
Mcafee is 1 such program that accompanies Adobe's updates..There are many more I am sure.
Look carefully at the dialog box before clicking to accept.

It is important to watch out when downloading programs that piggyback others such as McAfee or any other security program. As most of you may know, having two anti-virus programs installed at the same time doesn't work. So unless you have no security installed at all, uncheck the box to install an anti-virus program like McAfee.

Actually, from my experience with McAfee, I'd advise against ever installing that program.

I would also go with that, and include Norton as well.

I've been using McaFee, for years, paid for it, 2 other computers I've used a couple of free anti virus programs.
2 years ago I got rid of them all and went with Microsoft's security elements..
That and Spy-Bot is all I have been using and so far very satisfied, so many other programs want to take over computers.
    and are memory hogs...

You may be right it may be a Adobe piggy back as I do not use Mcafee, I use Bitdefender so So how do I stop / get rid of the Mcafee popping up?

Check your add/remove programs in control panel
Check add on's / options in your browser.
