Regarding the earlier comment about the Labour Party and nuclear energy, the following page on the BBC news site gives the 2006 position including the then Labour Government’s official report on energy:

Thank you for posting this - I like it when someone who accuses people of being uninformed is proved to be uninformed lol

    Fracking

The tide is turning. Fracking is becoming increasingly unpopular.
Despite David Cameron going "all out for shale", he is losing the public debate. The latest survey results from YouGov show that more and more people are opposed to fracking.
    Let's keep up the pressure
The Prime Minister is doing everything he can to push fracking, from offering financial sweeteners to cash-strapped councils, to changing the planning rules to make it easier for fracking companies to drill under people's homes. But this won't change the facts.
Fracking poses serous risks, from contamination of drinking water to damage to the local environment. It also produces dirty fossil fuels, which contribute to dangerous climate change.
Together we are winning the argument against fracking, so let's keep going. Please tell David Cameron to say no to fracking
    Thanks,

Scottish Hydro Electric Scheme is very succesful.
There are enough hills to push the turbins and pipes through the rock

After all the Electrical Power Lines blitz the countyside?
