I particularly take delight in my gr-gr-gr grandma's name, Freelove.

Now that is cool, sounds right out of the 1960s, LOL! Haven't done much research on ancestors myself, it's another one of those things I'd like to do that I haven't gotten around to doing, along with cleaning, cooking and just about everything else!
Bows and misses the doggy but spills the coffee...
Best wishes for many sales to all,
My gt grandfather was Louis Henry Palmer - OK you say BUT his brothers were called Lapauldro DeSilva, Francisco DeSilva, Younather DeSilva and Ryfealyer DeSilva PALMER. Their sister was called Delphenia Honor DeSilva PALMER. The DeSilva comes from their Portuguese grandmother.
Nothing overly peculiar in my family (apart from me), but when I was transcribing for FreeBMD I came across some peculiar, hilarious (in today's parlance), and intriguing names.
Feel free to share them, Mel! They are someone's family!! I just find names intriguing.

One of my great grandfather's sisters had a name that no one could spell. She was born in Crewe in the late 1850s. The birth record showed her name as Ebeldar. Every other record I found (census, marriage) showed a different spelling. Everelda, Everalder, Emeralda and then finally when she died in Birkenhead.... Emma. Whatever the name was, no one could spell it. Maybe Esmeralda?

Not many that I can pull to mind, they just caused a smirk or quizzical expression as I transcribed them. A couple that have stuck though...
Ivan O. Chance. Which when said aloud sounds like I've no chance - maybe his parents didn't hold out much hope for him.
Fanny Blood. Quite a few of those before 1900. With either the English or American meaning it is not a name a girl would want to grow up with nowadays - which is maybe why it vanishes from usage in the records.
My great-great-grandfather was called Enoch.
Not that odd, but not seen now (except for Enoch Powell).
Have you ever wondered why names seem to have appeared, been used once,(by people who became famous) then disappeared?
I'm thinking of Isambard, and Grinling, There must be lots of others.
My dad and my brother's first names are Thelbert.
