Legendary Australian cricket commentator Richie Benaud has died. He was 84. The cricketer turned broadcaster had been battling skin cancer and recovering from the after-effects of a car accident in 2013.
I spent many a test match listening to Richie on the radio

Always loved listening to his commentaries, along with Brian Johnston, John Arlott and Fred Trueman, the old test match special commentaries were the best.

Had no idea who he was - but then I'm not into sports.
Apparently been offered a State Funeral.
???? Was he something more than a sportsman/commentator ????

RIP Richie.. grew up with his commentary. Will be missed. :-(

Like a lot of others, I grew up watching & listening to Richie, the voice of Aussie cricket.
Thankfully for him, he passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home.
Great player, captain & commentator!
