Hi all! I only found out about eBid last week. What a joy it was
to read through all the online documentation/help: sensible
policies, a fair system, safe payment schemes, proper
adherance to the law, etc. Everything that's now so wrong with
eBay is absent here.
I've bought more than 400 items on eBay over the years, but
have never sold anything on eBay. This used to be because I
never had the time to sort it all out, but after I got scammed
in Apr/07 (total nightmare getting my money back from
PayPal), I kept putting off selling anything on eBay due to
security/fraud concerns, though more recently because of the
crazy changes eBay has made to its feedback and PayPal policies.
Then last Friday a friend told me about eBid; oh if only I'd
known this site existed earlier! I am amazed that eBid does not
receive much greater mention on news programmes, consumer
TV documentaries, etc. Does eBay have influence on the media?
I don't think I've ever heard eBid mentioned on the news as an
alternative auction site, when they're reporting about fraud
problems with eBay/PayPal, yet eBid is clearly using a better
system. Without question, the Escrow system would have
prevented the fraud I was hit with last year if the sale had been
on eBid instead (in all, 9 people were effected; the scammers
got away with about 800 UKP. I did get my money back, but
only after months of emails totaling 60000 words, and the
eventual threat of legal action via the Banking Ombudsman).
I am so pleased to find a sensible auction site. I deal with SGI
(Silicon Graphics) computer systems and parts - not many here
buying or selling such things yet, but I shall spread the word!
I have posted to the main SGI discussion forum (Nekochan) and
will alter the links on my SGI site.
Best wishes to all!
Ian.
PS. As might be expected, I have some questions & suggestions,
but I'll post them elsewhere.
