    What does the error say?

    It says:

Error : Read on for more informationDescription : You'll need to add some more criteria to be able to search, use the form on the right to try again.
I have tried searching using the box on the right, but it doesn't work there either.

Hmmmm... and you got that even with my search link. Weird. Have you reported it to ebid themselves? I'm sorry if I'm repeating questions you've already been asked, but I don't have time to read everything and have to mark stuff read quite often. Since you've still got the problem, I guess there's no harm in going through it one more time anyway! Any chance of a screen print in case somebody spots some obscure clue?

Actually, I got this error myself a few days ago, but not since, possibly because my machine clears cookies as it shuts down. Perhaps clearing cookies in IE/FF may clear it up?

#34 Ah sundance1958 - I see what you're getting at - I hadn't realised the specialised nature of your stock.

If browsers put British Explorers into the general search box under Stamps, and click the supplemental 'Search Descriptions' box, your listings do appear.
If browsers put British explorers (note your own lowercase) into the general search box under Stamps, and click the supplemental 'Search Descriptions' box, your listings do not appear.

However, if I put British e/Explorers into the general search box under Stamps, and do not click the supplemental 'Search Descriptions' box, your listings appear.

The search is general, and then specific - if browsers click the 'Search Descriptions' box (ie also fussy about upper/lowercase). Although your British Explorer stamps are EII, you don't mention this in the title (accessed by the general search), or in the text description of your listing (accessed by the more detailed 'Search Descriptions' tick box).

In your store, if you need to separate items like this from a category matching the general eBid category (there's nothing in your EII cat), you need to include the top search terms in your title, or at least your description, to get picked up.

PM me if I'm not being clear - I've just stubbed my toe and may not be making complete sense!

I get that error too when I use IE on this computer, but not on my laptop with IE. So I have switched to Firefox and it works fine now and is a great browser.

Oh, that rings a bell. I remember somebody else having IE problems. I guess if the OP doesn't want to install Firefox (I use FF3 and recommend it, but it's not everybody's cup of tea I suppose) he could try the new Chrome?

There have been a few of us reporting the problem for a while now. The common factor, based on limited responses, would seem to be IE running under XP Home SP3. One respondant reported IE under XP Pro SP3 did work.

I wonder if a "known problems" forum, that just ebid could post to, would be useful? They could list items known to cause people problems (and we could suggest entries here) with any known workaround. It would be a place to send people with problems to see if it was already documented, before getting into more discussion.

I did make a suggestion somewhere along those lines at http://helpdesk.ebid.net/showthread.php?t=111214 but it generated little interest.

I've requested one a couple of times as well in the last 6-8 months, same as Astral.

To be honest I think an overhaul of the forums would be a good idea.

I really think Suggestions & Glitches need to be split now that eBid is so much larger, glitches need to be seen by support & acted on, whereas suggestions can be browsed when they have the time.

Categories is another I think could do with splitting, one for requests,
(possibly one for discussion about more major category changes, before a finalised version is added to requests)
another for completed, for Gazza to move them to, then it could be seen easily when Gazza has had a category blitz.

Then like you've said a current site issues/known problems forum,
which I'm sure would cut down on the number of same report emails sent to the guys. They could also put a request for things like screenshots, error messages from affected members there, which might speed up identifying the cause in some instances.

Would be nice to have a forum with "What we're working on" (as in new features) posted by the guys as well, it might save the continual bumping of some threads
