Do they use the forums? What is their username?

I've just sent them a personal message via the forum and am hoping that they actually use the forums. Otherwise they will never see the message.

Is there a way of contacting people without going via the Forum?

If you use the private messages facility in the forums the recipient will get an email telling them to come here and open their message. It is quite a useful facility.

If they have item for sale, you can ask a question about one of them.

Unfortunately , this is only useful if a Seller/Buyer has registered as a forum user. The auction site and the Forum(s) are separate entities and logging into one does not automatically log you into the other.

I had this exact same problem and after several e-mails to support there doesn't seem to be a way, unless as others have suggested they use the forums, or they have something listed and you can use the ask the question facility.

It seems ridiculous to me as I lost the sale and ebid may have lost a potential new member to waht appeared to be poor customer service.

ebid is doing this to prevent sales ouside ebid.

Trying to eliminate contact between members is absurd, imho..

Listing charges are zilch, sellers have nothing to gain by trading outside of eBid, and there's no guarantee another member has joined or even visits the forum..

If the member is new to eBid there's a chance they may not have items listed for sale. If the same member isn't interested in forums they probably won't have joined here, either. And, if the member has bid on one of your auctions but you foresee a problem you're up the creek!

There are way too many scenarios where members need to ask Q's or solve problems - privately. The work-around suggestions are Not the solution.. there HAS to be some form of contact allowed - Outside the forum and Outside an auction 'Questions'.

Visitors looking for an alternative to the darkside are used to some form of contact, and this is just one area making eBid an (un)friendly and (un)attractive place to them.

jmho (and that of more than a few others I've sent here)..
    Back to work.. mini-rant over.
