Thread: Another viewing figure shot up overnight

Default Another viewing figure shot up overnight

    Gazza,
you asked me to let you know if this happened again.

Well it has, albeit by nothing like as much as last time but never the less a big jump.

    Auction ID : 13276669
From 0 Views to 3072 overnight.

    Just letting you know

It is possible that one of the search engine spiders has got caught in a loop and indexed your auction multiple times. Spiders crawl across the web going from link to link and making a "note" of what they find at each new destination. If while doing this they find two pages with links to each other, it is possible that they can go from one to the other and back again.

    EDIT
I should add that when a visitor to the page is not signed in as a member, they will increment the viewing counter every time the page is viewed or refreshed, so the spider will add one to the counter each time it visits.

I just listed this item: http://us.nine.ebid.net/perl/auction...250&mo=auction. It shows over 900 views in less than a second. Would be nice if true, but don't think it's right. Have another one that shows over 50 views in same amount of time. There's a problem.

Something definitely not right there. Checking into it.

On the subject of viewing figures, I have read posts across this site saying they are not working properly; either they are not working at all or they are behaving like Florida describes above. Some folk say they are working OK now. So what are we to believe?

Gazza - could you let us know whether the viewing counters ARE working properly or not? There are several of my items which I cannot believe still have zero against them after months of being here - so if the viewing counters are working then that is worrying, but if they aren't working, it is equally worrying ... and is it possible that they can be fixed soon?

I'd be really grateful if you could give us some information on what the real situation is with regard to the viewing counters.

    Thanks,
    Redmoonrider

Does anyone know yet, what the situation is on the view counters?

Gazza - if you see this please could you post and let us know whether they are working or not?

    Cheers!
