Default Bug - space added to price in title

If you look at my auction at
    http://uk.three.ebid.net/perl/auctio...-52&mo=auction

you'll see that the price comes up with a space after the full stop, before the pence part.
    £54. 99
    £84. 99

    etc.

I've tried editing this, because I only noticed it initially on one of them, but after looking I see it's the same on all of my auctions that have a price in the title. Editing them made no difference.
Could you have a look at this, Gazza and Mark?

This is not a bug, spaces are automatically added after most punctuation to stop screen stretching by users who are looking to gain an unfair advantage.

Thanks for the reply Gazza, but I don't understand what it means! What is screen stretching, and how does it give somebody an advantage?
I don't need to have the prices in the title anyway, I just thought it made it clearer, as the Ebid display of auction prices is right over on the right hand side of the page, and makes it hard work to check the prices of items as you go down the screen (IMHO).
