Thread: Gazza & Mark - My eBid Wish List for 2008

  1. #1

Thumbs up Gazza & Mark - My eBid Wish List for 2008

These are not in any particular order just as I though of them

    1) An increase in the number of my default templates - 10 is too few especially if you have 5 stores, maybe 25?

    2) An option to add a second active email address without losing the original one - then users could choose whether to receive mail, on one or both addresses, which to make primary ect. It would go a long way to solving the current, I'm not receiving email niggles.

    3) Changing the listing page so NO DEFAULT auction type is set, unless the user sets it in my defaults - this way it would generate an error, instead of defaulting to Featured which does cause many complaints.

    4) Adding a Sort By Store option in Auctions I'm Running

    5) Identifying Dropshippers & listings from Dropshippers - Not to stigmatise but to enable buyers to make a more informed choice.

    6) Identifying Charity Listings with a small Logo (This was Madelaine's Idea but I like it )

    7) Removing any contact information from my All About, or Forum Profile from permanently banned users - Too many of them have links to their own ecommerce enabled websites.

    8) More dynamic frontpage - I know you've added the varying straplines, but even some variation in images instead of the watch all the time, or some concession to season or holidays would freshen it up. If time is the problem run competitions for the artwork ect, the prize wouldn't need to be that expensive.

    9) Consolidation of the eBid brand - The new logo was unveiled in March 2007, but the old logo can still be seen on some images, some internet links, affiliate banners & even Mark's Avatar! My last eBid promotion email which arrived yesterday (well to Kewtonia, Gothicina didn't get one), still showed eKid!!

    10) An Online Version of the Newsletter - Or better still one more like the one I PM'd Mark about.

    11) A bit more imput from Gazza & Mark - As in the eBid Tag Line eBid Marketing Challenge ect ect, These seem to start well but just fizzle out.

    12) A least some advanced warning when Site Upgrades will affect our listings - There was no warning on the change in default font size implemented some time ago, as I set my font size by % it affected all of my listings.

These I know are being worked on but I'd love to see finished - even an occasional note on progress would help.

    13) Restrictions on the selling of certain high priced goods for new/zero feedback members - We could have really done with this one before Christmas, it will go a long way to prevent scammers.

    14) RSS

    15) eBid Lister

    16) Improvements to the Search

    Another Couple.

    17) Tidy up the help pages, clarify the information more, add info on closing your account

    18) Tidy up the Report Item List.

I would like to add to the wishlist.
When an item is relisted, could we please have an indication that an item has been relisted on the items unsold page as I do not always list all items at the same time. Thanks

    All the above and..

the export listings function to be available to individual stores and categories within stores rather than just all a sellers live listings. It's not much use me having the ability to download all 3000 of my listings to ( say) edit the postage or change a payment method when i can only upload 500 at a time.
If I could export listings for categories within stores, I could edit items relating to those particular items only. This would make the function much more maneagable and a very valuable tool that no other site has

as that was a long 'wish' i'll not ask for anything else - expect everything Gothicina and Madelaine asked for!

Have not used the import/export listing tools so cannot comment on that one. I have not used it as the some of the sellers items I have seen using this facility have items ended up in the wrong catogary etc. This might be down to the user but I would rather go slower and get it right.

    I'd like to add...

    my photo gallery..

it would be nice if we could sort our photos into folders to make them easier to find. Often, when there are a lot of photos its easier to upload them again than try to find one that is on a far page...if you know what I mean.

If you tick both the Repost & Delete boxes at the side of your listings on the items unsold page, it reposts the item & deletes it from the items unsold page at the same time. That way your items unsold page doesn't get clogged up.

I've totally given up on trying to save effort/server capacity with pictures, I just reload whenever I start a new listing

As well as folders, I would also like to be able to delete photos that I'm no longer using. I'm currently updating ALL my photos so they all have the same logo on them but as the listings are still live, I won't be able to delete the old photos.

if ever the email situation is resolved I'll be able to start selling again

as it is I've not added anything in over a year and will continue NOT to as when something sells I don't have a clue, if someone asks a question I don't have a clue etc. etc. etc. etc.

    ad infinitum
