What do you remember about school dinners.

I don't know how you all do it, I can just about remember this morning's breakfast.

Can I remember Faces? ....Nope
Can I remember Names .....Nope
But I can always remember Fooood! (Good and Bad!)

I liked everything except tapioca and semolina puddings. Yuk.

Oh - Frog spawn - I hated that too! Anyone else here called it that?

I remember for dinners we have..... spam fritters (floating in 10ins of fat), bird's nests (spag bol) and mashed pots with everything

dessert was....prunes & tapioca (frog spawn), rosehip syrup & semolina, jam sponge & custard

lumpy gravy................wat we use to do was burst a cod liver oil tablets n drop em in gravy n custard

Hey - does everyone remember having a free glass of milk at school too?
We had unpasteurised whole milk from the farmer just up the road - lovely stuff!

OH YES. We had free milk too but it was refrigerated to, it must have been, one degree above freezing. We had a glass (well, conical paper cup actually) of it before morning recess too, and were given only a short time to drink it so our throats got frozen just before we had to go outside into the subfreezing winter weather. Maybe i belong on the whinge thread.

We did not go to the same school cos i live about 200 miles away, but yes maybe there was a central warehouse full of frogspawn.

I was a milk monitor so got extra.

I can remember the free milk, usually frozen in the winter, couldn't even get the straw to go into into it!
