Thread: I got a neg feedback :(

  1. #1

    Unhappy I got a neg feedback :(

I'm so upset. I sold a T-shirt to a buyer who bought the item on the 7th of July (Tuesday) and he paid for priority postage. I saw out of town for the week. Every July for the past ten years me and my old college friends have a Florida beach party reunion. I return home on the 10th (Friday) and notice the sale and mail it off the next day. Well on 13th (Monday) I get hit with a neg feedback... the seller states "Bought now on 7/7/09 and paid for priorty mail and still havent recieved shirt. Was needed by 7/11/09. Will never use ebid again."

I sent the buyer a friendly email saying how sorry I am, explaining my situation and that I was willing to give them a full refund. I even told him to give ebid a second chance cause it's a great place.

Why anyone would buy something online 4 days before they needed it is beyond me. Still 95% of the time I will mail an item out same day or next.

Unreasonable buyers like this is one of the reasons I left feebay. I've been trying so hard to build up a good feedback on ebid but 8 of my buyers never left me positive feedback even when I left it for them and now this happens.

anyway... I'm bending over backwards to try to work this out with the buyer and getting nowhere. any suggestions on how to work this out would be great!

    thanks my friends, Rob

I am sorry to hear that. I know it hurts. Just out of interest: did you make use of the 'notice' facility? Next time you might want to use the holiday setting. Then nobody can bid/buy - just watch. You could put your case to ebid support and ask them to change the feedback, but I personally wouldn't bother.
I find it so strange when people have a bad experience with a seller, (your buyer obviously thinks so) they then blame the site. But maybe it's better for everybody if buyers like that disappear

Ebid does AND will change the feedback if you're persistent enough. They did it for me.

And I bet they thought you walked on water too!!

I hope Ebid will remove the negative for you.

What a pity that you didn't know about the holiday setting. They would not have been able to bid on it until you got back.
Although I have seen some put a notice of holiday in their auctions but still leave them running.

I am sure once you explain to Ebid support what has happened, your feedback will be changed at least to a neutral, as you may be considered as 50% to blame by not having a holiday notice up. I don't know if they will consider not knowing as an excuse but you can always try.

As Meebo1 says. Maybe it is better that buyers like this don't come back to the site, if this is how they behave. They could have been a bit more understanding once you explained what had happened.

For a short break I'd leave things running. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

oh dear what a numpty buyer, but they did pay for priority shipping and you should of set your store to hoilday mode, but who knows about holiday settings? you offered a full refund too, at best you should of only got a neutral, you can but only plead your case to addmin leave a calm reasoned reply to there FB explaining the facts. with you about buyers not leaving FB ive lost count on the ones that dont,!

I just noticed a few people getting negatives from a certain buyer. One was for the person not having an online payment set up. Who is going to offer PayPal or PPpay for a £1 auction. It would hardly be worth their while putting the auction up, it would be OK if they were buying several items but they usually don't.

The world is a crazy place, right enough.

DoctorRobb, even if you don't have the feedback removed you can still put a reply underneath telling your side of the story and that you offered a refund.

Unfortunate tho this is, it is up to a buyer to give his or her opinion of a transaction.

In my opinion, it is totally wrong for ebid to get involved in feedback removal unless it is from non-paying buyers or similar.
This buyer paid - item didnt fit in with his/her timescale, and is entitled to their opinion by way of feedback.
