It's too hot here in Texas to grow rhubarb, lilacs, peonies and other things but I got a big bag of rhubarb from my parents and made some delicious rhubarb bars with real butter shortbread type crust. YUM. Next up, maybe a rhubarb custard pie but i'm looking for a recipe that's more like yellow custard filling rather than just rhubarb jam type filling.

I'm packing the car as we speak...on my way for for one of those rhubarb bars....YUM is right!!

Can't grow the stuff here in Central Oregon....waaaay too cold, and then waaaay too hot....about the only thing that grows here are ponderosa pines, lodgepole pines, and oodles of sagebrush...yuck! Hate that sagebrush!!

After cutting off the leaves I place them on the soil around the plants to keep the weeds down and prevent moisture loss. Once the crop is over, a good dollop of well-rotted manure seems to do the trick for next season.

Ummmmm....I think the.best way to fix rhubarb is to drizzle some sweetened oj and cinnamon over your rhubarb shortcake before it is done........bake a bit longer.
    Ta-Ta for now!
